August is here already!!!!!!! Summer is zooming by extremely fast this
year or is it just my imagination? Every year it seems to go by faster
and faster. Anyway according to a web site I found while doing my
research for my column this month I found out that there is an obscure
holiday that someone is trying to get more and more people to
celebrate. I just figured this guy Michael Webb was just trying to help
slumping sales at greeting card companies in the summer or something
but, the more I read about this he sure made more and more sense to me.
Besides his tips were to use as little money as possible which is
always a bonus I am sure especially for us penny pinching
Diva's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What: Resurrect Romance Week -- established in 1995.
When: Second full week in August (six months after Valentine's Day)

writer of The RoMANtic Syndicated Column and author of The RoMANtic's
Guide and six other books on romance, relationship tips and advice.
Why: Michael wanted to create a romance holiday that for once did not
focus on money and "things." He wants people to equate romance with
time and attention.
Where: Resurrect Romance is celebrated worldwide by believers in true
romance.
Motto: "Real romance comes from the heart, not the wallet."
How: Michael suggests that couples do something romantic every day
during Resurrect Romance Week. Try doing things that cost little or no
money. Use your creativity instead. See Michael Webb's Web Page
www.TheRomantic.com for suggestions.

This months
feature Holiday is: August Monday
August Monday in many Caribbean countries is the holiday that kicks off
Carnival Week. Usually people celebrate it with steel band competitions
and parades which feature the various steel bands and their friends and
families all dressed in bright colourful costumes. Everyone competes
for the best band, best costume and best children's costume awards.
Canada, the US and now England all have their own Carnival celebrations
as well during August to celebrate with the large Caribbean populations
that now inhabit these countries. Along with these parades and
competitions many restaurants and food stands also celebrate by selling
Caribbean foods that people enjoy eating at these events so many also
have cooking competitions as well.
