Feng Shui and Romance

Feng shui (pronounced "fung shway") means "wind" & "water". Feng shui examines how energy or qi (pronounced "chee") flows through a room, house, building, garden, etc. and seeks to promote general well being, prosperity, health, etc through the smooth flow of positive qi. Imagine your space filled with clutter. Now imagine positive energy trying to flow through this space. It would be like a brook flowing along smoothly until it reached a point along the way which was choked up with fallen leaves. Where energy is blocked like this, you are likely to feel blocked as well. Here we will examine how correcting & balancing qi in your bedroom can encourage and bring more romance into your life. We will also look at what objects you can put in your bedroom to attract more positive qi.

Steps to Correcting & Balancing Qi
Step #1: Clean up your bedroom
Mess and clutter cause low energy in that room and for what energy there is to move slowly. Besides cleaning, you should also do something such as clap your hands loudly around the room a few times to dispel the old, stale energy residing there.

Step #2: Remove energy from old relationships
Now this is a big one! Look through your home - especially your bedroom - and see what items you have been hanging onto that remind you of past relationships gone wrong and promptly remove them! All that old hurtful energy is clogging up the space needed for positive qi to flow and to bring with it happy romantic energy.

Step #3: Remove negative imagery
What does this mean? Well, do you have ornaments or artwork in your bedroom depicting a person alone, solitude, loneliness, conflict, etc.? The images you surround yourself with have a powerful effect on your love life. So, ornaments and artwork depicting the things above should not be kept in your bedroom. Romantic imagery and anything in pairs is good for use in your bedroom.

Step #4: Create a path for qi
Walk from your front door to your bedroom. If you were a brook, would you be able to flow with ease from one place to the other? If not, move items and furniture and create a clear flow for positive qi to find its way to your bedroom. Also, make sure all lights along this route are working properly and see if there are any other places you can add more light.

Step #5: Reposition your bed
If one side of your bed is against the wall, the person who sleeps on that side may feel confined &/or disempowered in the relationship. If it's possible, you should place your bed so there is equal space on both sides so you and your partner can find equal enjoyment in the relationship.

Step #6: Welcome love
Make sure your home's front door and the door to your bedroom open easily and open all the way. If the doors stick or squeak or cannot open all the way due to "stuff" behind them you are blocking the flow of positive qi. If you have a loose doorknob on your bedroom door, it may mean you are having a hard time "getting a handle on" romance so you should tighten it up.

Step #7: Don't workout in the bedroom
When you workout in your bedroom and/or store workout equipment there, you are bringing hard work energy and exertion energy into your romantic space. Do you want your love to feel like an excruciating workout?

Step #8: Create a little positive imagery/reinforcement
Find images that reflect & symbolize your perfect relationship. Make a collage of these images and put it somewhere you will see it everyday.

Step #9: Make room for love
If you are not currently in a relationship but want to attract love to your life, arrange your bed and bedside tables as if you are doing so "for two". Look through your closets, shelves and drawers. Are they crammed full with your stuff? Clean out some of your belongings that you don't need and then visualize your potential new love's belongings filling that space.

Some items you can place in the romantic area of your home to enhance positive romantic qi are:
  • a pair of mandarin ducks (not wooden) are a strong symbol of love
  • pink bedsheets because the color pink raises yang energy
  • crystals: especially rose quartz and yellow citrine
  • candles: especially pink or red and in pairs
  • images or artwork representing lovers
  • any object that strongly represents romance and love to you
